This set of musical spoons are metal with a plastic handle. The very first recognized spoon players were in 17th century Russia. They were vagrant musicians called scomorochs. In their time, musical spoons were widely used for accompanying folk dances and songs. They were later included by a renowned composer V.V. Andreyev in his Great Russian Orchestra in the year 1908. Musical spoons have long been popular in jug bands and other improvisational groups and were even featured during wedding ceremonies in the late 1600's. Measures 7 3/4" long.
